St. Michael’s Army of Intercessors for Troubled Youth

CREDIT: Women's Apostolate to Youth

THEIR MISSION: The Women's Apostolate to Youth (WAY) is an inter-generational lay Association of Christ's Faithful for Catholic women in the Diocese of Arlington. We take as our heavenly patroness and model of spiritual maternity the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Incarnate Love. Our spiritual mentors are Saints Teresa of Avila, Catherine of Siena, Elizabeth Ann Seton, Therese of Lisieux, and Teresa Benedicta of the Cross -- holy women whose lives and works offer perennially valid inspiration and guidance to women seeking an authentically Catholic and feminine form of spiritual practice.

If you are one of the many committed Christians who are deeply disturbed by the tidal wave of corrupting influences bearing down on our children and youth in these troubled times but feel helpless to do anything about it, take heart!

Join St. Michael's Army of Intercessors

Every day we see the children in our lives assaulted by evil in the images and content on television on the internet and social media.  Films and advertising and even schools promote ideologies that are at odds with God's love and his plan for their happiness.  No matter how hard we try to protect them from the contagion of evil, to provide them with wholesome entertainment and friends, it is not enough.

"For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens." - Ephesians 6:12

We feel helpless to stop the onslaught, but we are not.

"The weapons of the battle are not of flesh but are enormously powerful." - 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

We battle the same enemy, and call on the one who defeated evil at the beginning of time, Saint Michael the Archangel. Members of Saint Michael's Army are asked to pray daily:  the Saint Michael Prayer & a prayer to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, to intercede for children who are in danger of physical emotional or spiritual harm.  They may be victims of abuse or suffering from depression, have suicidal thoughts or use illegal drugs.  Some have simply withdrawn from their families or face a difficult life decision.  Each one is nominated by a member of Saint Michael's Army.  We intercede for them, by name, which is a pseudonym for confidentiality, every day for a month.  In addition, we have a precious band of priests who celebrate Holy Mass for their intentions every month.

We cannot say we have done all we could as the ones responsible for the children entrusted to us by God unless we engage in the battle for their souls with the weapons at our disposal and all the host and powers of heaven.

If you do join us, your spiritual gift of less than 3 minutes a day will bring many blessings - not only to your own little ones - but to countless troubled youth who mistakenly believe that no one cares.

See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.  What do you think?

If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?

And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray.

So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. -Matthew 18: 10-14
